ok im having hard time stopping the autoboot, i think they may have changed the process. im working on it now im pretty sure that the console password hasnt changed from the previous firmware file that i gave you initially. so i have the new board installed and it came with the latest firmware. id still like to extract the root console password from the firmware, like we initially had began to do.

i wonder if com port settings are correct i have it set at 115200,8,n,1

well i was hoping to analyze its contents to see if theres anything inside that will help me figure out how to get output from serial port (rs232)

since i paid only $50 for it, yea it was worth it

it was built in 2009 its a little bit old school

with the dvr unplugged, if i hold down (setup) & (enter) buttons on front panel, then plug in power, it goes into "firmware upgrade" mode.
